Testimonial
"I am very satisfied with the service of Henry's housework. They quality and level of service is exceptional and I sincerely appreciate their prompt response to my request to replace roof tiles. In today's society, I find the level of work ethics and customer service has declined in a variety of professions. Henry's Housework is the exception to the rule. Please accept my appreciation Henry, and to Nichole of your staff for a quality job."
Evelyn Lee, Silver Spring MD

Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions page for gutters. Below, we have tried to answer the most common questions visitors to this our website may have. For prices on gutter cleaning, click here.  For information that is not covered here, call us at 301-216-9675.

Q: What is involved in the process of gutter cleaning?

A: First and foremost, the number one concern is always safety. Usually, we will blow any debris off the roof that may be laying on it. Then we will clear out the gutters and down spouts. During our gutter cleanings, we will also inspect the gutter system and the roof surface for over 20 roofing problems. If we find anything that needs further attention, we will leave you an inspection form listing any problems we found and the price to repair them.  Our roof inspection could save you hundreds of dollars in damages before they happen!

Q: How often should you clean your gutters?

A: Depending upon your environment (more trees, more cleaning), you may need to clean your gutters more or less often. Many of our clients have signed up for our seasonal contracts, just to make sure their homes are maintained properly and to save money with our discounts.
It is best to check them after the fall leaves have dropped and in the spring at the minimum. Everyone should have them checked once a year though, even if you don’t have any trees at all. As a special benefit to our clients, we are offering a free reminder service. We hope this will make maintaining your homes easier.

Q: What is the biggest mistake people make when cleaning their own gutters?

A: Safety is usually the biggest mistake which can result in serious injuries or death. Many people also wash down all the debris into their underground drainage systems, thus plugging them up.

Q: How effective are nets and filtering devices installed in gutters?

A: A “gutter guard” can be helpful in the prevention of clogged down spouts depending on the amount and type of trees (conifer needles or deciduous leaves) that may fall onto the roof and end up in the gutters. Down spout outlets in the gutter system can also be protected by a mushroom screen, but keep in mind that once in place it is mandatory to clean the areas where buildup will occur.

Q: How much does a new gutter system cost?

A: It costs a great deal less to protect against water damage and moisture penetration then it does to correct unsafe, unhealthy conditions and structural damage.

The cost of a new gutter system will vary depending on several factors such as:
*The type of gutter material used – Aluminum, steel, or copper.
*The lineal footage of gutter required.
*The amount and length of down spouts.
*Number of mitered corners.
*Whether or not the fascia boards, which the gutters attach to, need to be replaced or not.
*Degree of difficulty is factored in depending on the installation.

Q: What if some one falls off the roof?

A: If an uninsured worker falls off your roof, you are totally liable and could possibly lose everything of value that you own. That is why Henry’s Housework Inc. is fully insured. We carry workers' compensation, liability insurance, and a Maryland home improvement license. We will fax a copy of our insurance when requested since we don't want you to have to worry about any liability falling upon your behalf.

Q: Can I get an estimate?

A: We provide accurate estimates over the phone and on the gutter cleaning services page. Simply call (301) 216-9675 and answer a few simple questions about your home. We can also answer any other questions you may have.
As a special benefit to our clients, we are offering a free reminder service. We hope this will make maintaining your homes easier.

Q: Do you clean up my yard after cleaning the gutters?

A: All of the debris that will inevitably fall out of your gutters and onto your bushes and window sills below will be blown into the yard for pickup during mowing or blown into the flower beds. We will also blow off all of your walkways and patios.

Q: Do I have to be home at the time of service?

A: We don't want you to have to bend your schedule to meet ours, so you don't have to be home when we do the job. In the event that you are not home, we will leave an itemized invoice, company flier, and a refrigerator magnet. Once you receive your invoice, just mail it in with your payment, or call us with your credit card information.

Q: How am I billed?

A: In the event that you are not home, we will leave an itemized invoice, company flier, and a refrigerator magnet. Once you receive your invoice, just mail it in with your payment. Or call us with your credit card information.

Q: Can you replace my floodlights?

A: Sure! If you provide the bulb, we will provide the service. The charge is simply $10 per bulb.

Q: Can you clean the outside of my skylight?

A: Yes, we provide exterior skylight cleaning at $10 per skylight as long as we can walk on the roof.
